Call for volunteers

Ahem:

>>FLATPACK FESTIVAL CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS<<
Flatpack Festival are recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to help with the smooth running of their 3rd festival, taking place in warehouses, bars, shop windows and cinemas across Birmingham from the 11th to 15th March 2009. Duties will include front of house, technicals, installation, running, promotion and bar work. All volunteers will have the opportunity to make use of their festival pass and get expenses paid. Please email info[at]7inch.org by Wednesday 11th February with your contact details.

Do drop us a line if you’re interested. In other news… the eagle-eyed amongst you may have noted the launch date of January 2009 on our homepage. We could try blaming the snow or the economic slow-down, but in fact we forgot to take our reality-pills and got a little over-optimistic. Announcing the programme a month before kick-off is about par for film festivals, and that’s about how long you’ll have to peruse the Flatpack programme and plan your life. The schedule is nailed and will be wending its way to print and onto the website in the next few days; keep ‘em peeled. Tickets will be on sale through the fantastically supportive Visit Birmingham website and ticket-shop from 17 February. And rest assured that there will be passes this year!

In a Dream

In A Dream Trailer from Herzliya Films on Vimeo.

In our unceasing quest for good stuff to show we came across In a Dream last week. It’s a portrait of obsessive Philadelphia-based mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar by his son Jeremiah, crammed with beautiful images and a fair dose of family pain. The score includes Danish wig-out maestros Efterklang, and using footage from the film Zagar has also cut this lovely video for the band.

In other news — many thanks to all the terrifically talented people who applied for Flatpack internships. Sorry we couldn’t take everyone on, but do keep in mind that there will be plenty of other opportunities to get involved nearer the time. And apologies for neglecting this blog! We will be checking in more regularly from now on. In the meantime, you can read about our day out in Sheffield at the Doc/Fest website.

Internships

Flatpack is expanding, and we are seeking interns to work with us on the next planning stage for the festival. There are two part-time roles; one festival assistant and one web editor. If you’re interested in either then click on the links for a job spec. Deadline for applications is 4th November. There will be more info up here shortly about other volunteer roles.
