Colour Box projections

Along with all the other family activities at mac during Flatpack weekend, Chris Plant from Colour Burst cooked up some ingenious interactive projections using a Kinect camera as part of the Digiplayground programme. Over the two days hundreds of kids had a play, and as this video indicates it went down a treat…

Meanwhile Unravel were also packing them in for their hand-painted film workshops, and they’ve posted some photo evidence.

Something for the Family

We like to cater for all ages here at Flatpack, so if you’re browsing through the programme wondering what you can bring your four year old daughter or your eight year old nephew along to, then look no further than Colour Box 1 and Colour Box 2 (on second thoughts, do look a little further, check out Fantastic Mr Fox, Eleanor’s Secret, and Unravel too).

Here’s a little taster from the Colour Box 2 programme…

A taster…

The programme is now online and the brochure will be on the streets next week. While you wait to get your mits on a physical programme, here’s a sneaky peek of two treats in store over the festival.

The Secret of Kells is a stunning animation about how the Book of Kells was completed and survived to become one of Ireland’s national treasures. The film has won several awards and an Oscar nomination for its animation which is nearly as beautiful as the book itself.

A Film About Poo is a lovely little film that will be screened in the Colour Box Shorts programme and is all about….erm…The catchy song has got into all of our heads, and I will certainly be humming it to myself all day! The shorts programme will also feature a screening of The Brothers McLeod’s beautiful new film Moonbird as well as other super and silly shorts including birthday cake, a sleepy cat and Rapunzel.
