Dust in the Attic
Archive programme delving into Birmingham's hidden histories, including the legendary King Kong statue.
Another one of CBD’s finest café’s, Urban Coffee will play host to an archive programme of short films compiled by the Media Archive for Central England, which includes Birmingham of Yesterday by the Birmingham Photographic Society. This short travelogue takes a look around the city in the 1930s and includes some rather extraordinary footage from a PE lesson in which a class of boys perform synchronised gymnastics. Other highlights include a documentary charting the rise of The Mini, Birmingham’s Small Car, and a humorous look at one of Birmingham’s most short-lived city-centre statues, King Kong.
*Please note that the programmes screening at Café Costes and Urban Coffee will alternate on Friday 16th March.
This screening is part of Film Bug, a festival within a festival which takes over venues across the Colmore district of the city centre from 14-16 March.
